Request Orchestra Performance
The orchestra started with instrumentalists and expanded to 26 members by 2010, becoming the largest black church orchestra in the Richmond metro area. They named themselves the Cornerstone Baptist Church Worship Symphony, ministering during Sunday services and hosting annual Christmas and Spring Concerts. Each month the orchestra held mini concerts and special performances during Sunday evening services and church events, occasionally supporting the church choir, particularly for Christmas and Easter Cantatas. The ministry also engaged in outreach by performing at churches, senior homes, and the Chesterfield Town Center Mall during the Christmas season, and traveled to music conferences in other states to worship and fellowship with other church instrumentalists. The orchestra was blessed to have members from within the church, but God also brought in visiting instrumentalists as needed, one of whom was the late Bob Walters. Known for his incredible arranging and composing talents, Bob had national, including conducting the National Symphony. During a time when our church a full-time pianist, he visited our rehearsal and offered to play with us. Welcoming him with his keyboard and bells, Bob decided to join our orchestra and church family. We later discovered his remarkable service and talent for praising Christ, as he arranged and composed worship music not only for the national stage but also for our orchestra, dedicating his life to developing our church choir orchestra.
